Swiss Pastries has been a staple of the Kamloops community for over 40 years, providing quality European cakes and pastries as well as delicious café food. Since Valerie and George Moutsos purchased Swiss Pastries in August 2015, they have continued the tradition of European cakes, and they still work with the same in-house baker. Valerie and George have expanded the business to include a catering service with owner and chef George Moutsos at the helm.
At Twisted Roots Kitchen & Catering, we have the same philosophy for our catering service as our bakery. We employ a European style with a little bit of ingenuity, for a combination of traditional cooking with a contemporary twist.
Our business name, Twisted Roots Kitchen & Catering, is inspired by George Moutsos’ culinary background. George’s cooking ‘roots’ started as a young man learning from his family with Greek heritage. As he worked towards his Red Seal, he mastered the classic French methods, while also mixing in the Pan Asian cuisine that was prominent in Whistler at that time. He continued his career with Fairmont Hotels internationally, where he expanded his culinary repertoire to include flavours of the Caribbean and Mexico. A personal highlight for George included catering for then Senator Barrack Obama while he was the Banquet Chef at Fairmont Chicago.
